I fell in love with this beautiful Faux Turquoise Necklace and Bracelet at a Women’s Retreat and bought it on the spot! Because I loved these statement pieces so much, I wore them often! Over time, the metal on both pieces tarnished. I stuck it in a drawer with a bottle of metal polish with wonderful intentions. Every time I opened the drawer, there it was staring me in the face, and it whispered time and time again, What about me? What about me? I need a face lift, remember?
I finally rescued it out of the drawer after … A-hem, more than a few years. I tried the metal polish. No go. That tarnish didn’t budge on artificial metal. I then decided the tightly woven rope portions on the necklace had to go. They’d seen their better days. I took out my wire cutters and clipped off that portion of the necklace and into the trash it went. As I pondered the tarnish, I suddenly remembered I had a bottle of OPI Silver Chrome Fingernail Polish upstairs in my bathroom cabinet. I was a little more than surprised at the results of this impromptu face lift. I coated it front and back a couple of times on both sides and the results were absolutely STUNNING! I was literally astonished at the results!
Since I make jewelry pieces frequently that I sell in my store, I will have to add the jump rings, chain for the necklace and clasp. I’ll try to post pictures in another blog post when it’s completely finished! (So, stay tuned)!
