I purchased this Mini Welcome Flag 2-3 years ago at Tuesday Morning for the front of my home. We just had our home repainted white with black trim, so I just loved it as a sweet accent! Naturally the Phoenix Sun went to town on it and faded the living heck out of it. My Beautiful little flag wasn’t so pretty any more. I knew I could get on the internet and see if I could find something online to replace it, but it might be difficult to duplicate this 3–D look. This particular flag is made out of a thick canvas material almost like a netting, (some what similar to material used on outdoor furniture). I’m not sure what you’d call it for sure, as I’ve never had one like it, but it’s super durable and long lasting…
While I was thinking to toss it out and look for something new, being the frugal girl that I am, I got to thinking about how I’ve seen people paint rugs and upholstery to outdoor furniture to update it. Why not try painting this? I did a small black patch test on a portion of the flag and boom, I knew right then and there I was going to give it a fresh new look with paint!
I grabbed my paints and decided I’d just do the black and the white as the other colors didn’t appear to be as faded, or at least not noticeable so… I’d only just gotten started when I knew these two small changes were going to make an astounding difference. I was completely flabbergasted by what a little fresh paint did to my faded flag! Who knew?
Definitely tell me what you all think? I hope this may encourage you to think twice before you throw a weathered flag away! Grab your paints and see what you can do?! Pleased leave me a comment with pictures below. I love when my viewers share their creativity with me!
